The Great Hall, which is two storeys high, is particularly impressive and there is exquisite woodcarving, a fine cantilevered oak staircase, furniture and porcelain. The house is furnished in period style and displays over one hundred 18th-century portraits on loan from the National Portrait Gallery. The fully equipped Victorian laundry gives a fascinating insight into the drudgery of servants pves at that time, contrasting with the elegant state rooms. Other attractions include a Victorian potting shed, restored Victorian walled garden, wilderness play area, pike ponds and monthly art exhibitions..... |
